Broad Shoulders

Ladies with broad shoulders may find some bras don’t fit comfortably due to the cups or straps being set too close together.  You may have a more athletic body shape, or a more curvy shape, have a wider set bust or a close set bust.  Bras in this section are suited to broader shoulders.

Athletic shapes:  If you have a wider set bust, meaning your breasts don’t touch in the middle and there is a gap between them more than a couple of fingers wide; look for bras that have a wider central gore and a bigger ‘triangle section’ in between the cups.  Balcony shape bras can offer a good solution as they tend to have wider set straps and varying gore shapes.  Some Push-Up and Plunge styles will have wider set straps to pull the bust in from the sides of the cups at the top, rather than from the middle-top of the cup.  The Lepel Fiore Padded Plunge bras are an example of this, they have quite wide set straps from our experience.  Demi cup bras also have wider set straps and could be a good option for small and moderate bust sizes.  Longline bra styles can help to add curves by offering more torso coverage.  Athletic shaped ladies can create curves with ruffles and details on briefs, hipster short/Brazilian styles that sit on the hip can help to accentuate the hips.  Avoid boxy bottoms with low straight cut legs and straight cut waists.

Close set busts: You may have broad shoulders and a close set bust, meaning breasts touch in the middle.  In this case look for bras with a narrow central gore and higher wires in the centre to help separate the bust, balconies with U-shaped cup wires are great for this.  Balcony shape bras can offer a good solution as they tend to have wider set straps and varying gore shapes.  Some Full cup bra styles can have wider set straps and offer more coverage to help separate and define the breasts.  Avoid heavily padded bras and low cut cups as they can cause spillage, bras offering stretch-lace top-cups are a good option for a lighter look and flexible cup edge fit.
